Sea Sponges Share 70 Percent Of Human Genes
Genetic sequencing of sea sponges on the Great Barrier Reef found their genetic makeup is about 70% the same as humans.
The good news in this study is that many of the shared genes are related to disease and cancer in humans.
Apparently the sea sponges may be very useful in our study of stem cells.
