Black Couple Has White, Blond, Blue Eyed Baby

A black English couple of Nigerian heritage were surprised when their new baby appeared with white skin, blond hair and blue eyes.

There's confusion among doctors as to whether this unusual child is an albino, or the result of an unusual genetic variation.

The attending doctor first said the baby was not albino, because it didn't have the pink eyes and white hair common to albinos.

Other experts suggested the parents may have been carrying recessive genes from long forgotten white ancestors. Others claim this is unlikely, given both mother and father have Nigerian heritage, a traditional black country where race mixing is uncommon.

Yet more experts conclude the baby girl is just an unusual albino. These authorities base their theory on the fact that albinoism is more common in west Africa than the rest of the world.

The parents have the best theory, saying simply the baby girl is their baby, and they embrace her new life whatever she looks like.
