1. The Universe Series by History Channel
The Universe Series was first broadcast by the History channel between May 2007 and September 2010. It has a total of 5 seasons and 63 episodes, all of which are immensely popular due to their coverage of a wide range of interesting topics on astronomy, use of spectacular computer generated graphics and high-definition footage from NASA, interviews with famous astronomers and astrophysicists, etc.
The Universe Series make use of highly advanced computer generated animation to illustrate intriguing phenomena such as colliding galaxies, giant meteorite impacts, supernova explosions, strange effects of black-holes, colonizing outer space, wildest weather in the Universe, etc. Prominent astrophysicists explain complex theories of physics in such a manner that even an amateur can grasp them easily.
Each of the five seasons is now available on a set of universe DVDs or Blu-ray disks. All the five seasons are also available as a large box-set of universe DVDs with a total run-time of 3055 minutes. It also contains some additional, bonus documentaries apart from the 63 original episodes.

"Cosmos, A Personal Voyage" was first broadcast by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) in 1980. Decades later, this award-winning show is still an epic program on astronomy. 3. Journey to the Edge of the Universe by National Geographic
This astronomy show was first broadcast by National Geographic in 2009. It is a spectacular, one-and-a-half hours journey that starts from the Earth and takes us on a tour of the Moon, the planets, the surface of the Sun, far-away galaxies, nebulae, quasars, pulsars, black-holes, etc. It uses dazzling computer generated animation built upon real, high-definition photographs of the Universe taken by NASA and ESA. The narration by Alec Baldwin is mesmerizing. It is one of the most popular universe DVDs available today.
